Pablo Armesto Schaffhausen, Switzerland, b. 1970.

Biography

Pablo Armesto began his artistic career in 1998, in the field of painting. An artist of intellectual and formal restlessness, in 1999 he began to carry out public works and a little later he entered the territory of the installation. Currently his work is in an experimental space in which sculpture and painting, with the immaterial nature of their light and shadow, coexist with technology and science. The luminescence of the pieces of it is achieved by means of systems of LEDs, neons, cathodes and optical fiber, combined with wood and lacquered metals.

Some of his works in the field of art of new multimedia technologies and installation have been exhibited in centers such as the Zentrum für Kunst und Medien, ZKM, in Karlsruhe, in Germany (2009) and Laboral Centro de Arte Gijón (2008) . Pablo Armesto has held individual and group exhibitions throughout Europe and Latin America, and has received numerous awards and scholarships for sculpture and public art, such as the Plastic Arts Award of the Principality of Asturias (2006) and the Painting Award of the National Art Contest of Luarca (2017).

His work is present in multiple collections: Government of the Principality of Asturias, Ministry of Culture of the Principality of Asturias or Center of Sculpture of Candás Museo Antón.
