Biography

Artist linked to the kinetic movement and Op art. In 1958 he obtained a scholarship from the French government and settled in Paris. There he met and frequented the artists who worked around the Denise René Gallery, who organized in 1955 together with Vasarely the historic exhibition “Le Mouvement”, founding manifesto of kinetic art. In 1960 he founded the Visual Art Research Group (GRAV) and participated in the Nouvelle Tendence group.

 

Since then, his works seek the participatory gaze of the viewer, incorporating artificial lighting, specular effects, reflections and mechanical movements.

 

His works are featured in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; Tate Modern, London; Center Georges Pompidou, Paris; Musée d'Art Contemporain de Montreal; Museo de Bellas Artes, Caracas; Kunsthalle, Nuremberg; Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis.
