Biography

Panamanian artist, Fine Arts graduated from the Ganexa University of Panama. He has participated in international workshops and residencies such as the Global Fresh Collective Workshop in New York (2009), the Culture France Scholarship, Cité International des Arts, Paris (2010), and the Pilotenkueche Residence, in Leipzig, Germany (2011).

 

His work has been exhibited in important galleries and museums in Panama and the world, such as the Havana Biennial; Fort Worth Contemporary Arts, TCU, Texas; the BMOCA, Colorado; and the Chinese American Museum, Los Angeles.

 

In Cisco Merel's work, multiple influences are combined with local references to define his universe. His language is based on a vocabulary of shapes that comes from geometry and typography, together with a precise and systematic color code, that allows him to build images and spaces in multiple supports such as painting, sculpture, non-traditional materials and installation, as well as projects in architecture and public space.
