Manuel Mérida: Solo Show

1 June - 8 August 2021
Overview

Venezuelan artist Manuel Mérida, born in 1939, moved to Paris in 1968. He was trained at the School of Fine Arts in Valencia, Venezuela, where he became one of the best representatives of the informalist trend and gestural art in his country. In the French capital he befriends Carlos Cruz-Diez and collaborates in his studio for two years.

By using moving parts to make his artworks, he wants to avoid proposing a fixed and unique vision, playing with the variations of colored materials such as pigments, sand, coal dust, wood particles, painted metal, among other, contained within his Monochrome paintings.

This renowned Venezuelan artist has a room in our gallery dedicated to works he made at the beginning of the 20th century.
