THROUGH COLOR: Carlos Cruz-Diez

13 August - 13 October 2017
Overview

For more than sixty years, Carlos Cruz-Diez has set out to go through the phenomenon of color, exploring all its possibilities, to build a plastic discourse that would make it legible as circumstance and ambiguity. Now and on the occasion of his 94th birthday, Marión Art Gallery presents an exhibition that crosses the discursive width of his work, including works that are exhibited for the first time in Panama.

The exhibition presents a selection of works from Cruz-Diez’s different investigations, which allow the viewer to take a tour through his proposals in many different formats. From the flat work to the real space, passing through the installation or the mechanical works, it is a varied sample that brings together historical pieces, current searches and pieces especially manufactured for this exhibition.

It will also include the didactic exhibition entitled “From the structure to the chromatic spectrum”, presented for the first time at Casa de las Américas in Havana in 1999, and designed by Cruz-Diez to facilitate the understanding of his proposal around color.

“Cruz-Diez: Through Color” is undoubtedly an opportunity to appreciate the trajectory of a great master and discover the scope and validity of his approach.
