Karin Radoy Germany, b. 1957.

Biography

She studied painting at the Higher School of Design in Offenbach and at the Städelschule Academy of Fine Arts in Frankfurt. In 2001 she won the International Artist’s House Villa Concordia scholarship.

In his work, the painting merges with the support material in a unique aesthetic construct with geometric characteristics: the work is the support, without separations between figure and background, work and matter. In Radoy’s work, the repetition of the same sign, sometimes inverted or modified and conceived in the form of a diptych, produces dynamic tensions based on the idea of duality. The relationship between both elements of the diptych is enhanced by the interaction between them and the background on which they are located, in a game of shadows that vary according to the lighting and the viewer’s situation.
