David Magán MADRID, SPAIN, b. 1979

Biography

Glass sculptor trained at the Madrid School of Arts and Crafts, where he specialized in working with wood and iron, he soon showed a strong interest in glass. As a result of his deepening in this area he developed a personal technique in which he fuses chromatic compartmentalization through pieces of flat glass common to the stained-glass tradition and a spatial conception inherited from both sculptural and architectural procedures.

In this way, his works become a continuous process of experimentation with the developments that light and color trace in their dialogue with space. Open or closed, dynamic or static, each of his pieces constitutes a complex game in which the viewer faces different possibilities: either the activity and contemplative enjoyment linked to pictorial works, or the tensions required by the three-dimensional arts.
